Bipolar is one of the types of mood disorder associated with brain. It causes unusual shifts in energy, mood and ability of a person. It is also referred to as maniac depression. It involves recurrent episodes of depression and mania, which recur across the lifespan. A person suffering from bipolar disease often experiences mood instability, depression and extreme mood swings. One time, they may feel very sad, worthless, helpless, despairing and hopeless and another time, they may feel like creative, hyperactive and on the top of the world. This disease is named as bipolar disorder because the mood of a person with bipolar disorder alternates between totally different extremities, such as extreme sadness and euphoric happiness. There are two types of bipolar disorder such as Bipolar I disorder and Bipolar II disorder. The first type involves episodes of severe mood swings, while the second type is a milder form. Cyclothymia is a mild bipolar disorder. Causes of Bipolar Disorder The exact cause of bipolar disorder is not known. However, various genetic, biochemical and environmental factors are supposed to be involved in triggering bipolar disorder. People with bipolar disorder have some physical and chemical changes in the brain. Neurotransmitters, naturally occurring brain chemicals, contribute in developing bipolar disorder. Hormonal imbalance is also responsible for this disorder. This disease may be due to a combination of multiple genetic and environmental factors. Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder Symptoms of bipolar disorder are characterized by alternate patterns of depression and mania. The symptoms may vary mild to severe from person to person. There are different symptoms of bipolar disorder in maniac phase and depressive phase. Manic Phase of Bipolar Disorder A person in the maniac phase may feel very energetic, creative and hyperactive. Some of the common signs of mania are increased activity and gestures, inflated self-esteem, poor temper control, poor judgment and pressured speech. The major symptoms of manic phase are:
Extreme optimism Agitation Euphoria Inflated self-esteem Rapid speech Aggressive behavior Racing thoughts Risky behavior Spending sprees Increased physical activity Increased sexual drive Increased drive to perform or achieve goals Decreased need for sleep Inability to concentrate Tendency to be easily distracted Drug abuse Depressive Phase in Bipolar Disorder Some people may experience more episodes of depressive phase than maniac phase. Some of the general signs of depression are excessive worry, sadness, crying spells and social withdrawal. Some major symptoms of depressive phase are as follows: Hopelessness Sadness Sleep problems Anxiety Irritability Guilt Appetite problems Fatigue Problems in concentration Loss of interest in daily activities Chronic pain due to unknown reason Symptoms of bipolar disorder are serious and can affect entire life of a person. Bipolar depression may result in damaged relationships, marital problems, poor performance in school or at job, and even suicide. Hence, it is very essential to seek an appropriate treatment immediately. Bipolar disorder can be diagnosed on the basis of signs and symptoms. Bipolar disorder treatment focuses on stabilizing mood swings and managing the symptoms. It can be treated with different medications such as lithium, carbamazepine, valproic acid, etc. Various therapies such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy and group therapy are found to be helpful the people with bipolar disorder.
I have bipolar disorder, and basically what it does is it makes you be happy one moment and extremely mad the next. It is NOT easy to manage, and makes you have extreme will power. I like to think of it as my superpower... but really it is my disease. Being only twelve, i have been afflicted with this disease since i was five years old, and i DO take it as a blessing, as it is what makes me artistic and it makes me be able to do whatever i want to as long as i put my mind to it.i must say tho that it is VERY hard to manage, i do take medication for it tho, and am currently mostly fine, but i still see a psychiatrist and therapist for it, as well as taking around ten pills each day. Of course i do have depression too so..... But basically bipolar is a disease that causes highs and lows in behavior (high meaning happy and low meaning sad) that come quickly and rapidly, extreme anger sometimes and extreme depression, yet it has good side effects such as artistic ability and strong will power.
hope I helped :)

Bipolar disorder is a type of psychological illness that have 2 recurring episodes: one manic and one depressive. In the manic stage, a person who suffers from bipolar disorder is extremely happy, irritable, restless and extremely generous to a fault. On the other hand, in the depressive stage, a person who has bipolar disorder tends to draw from society with an overwhelming desire to be left alone, extremely sad for no reason and he may even cry a lot without reason. At the same time, a person with bipolar disorder can experience psychosis or commonly known as hallucinations either or both visual and auditory types but to a limited degree. A person who has bipolar disorder can also experience panic attacks with sensations such as body tremors, upset stomach and vertigo.

I will answer your question, on one condition. Promise 'me you won't get
angry, or depressed... 'here goes,

there is a curse that they 'call bipolar. you might have it, you might not,
'but most people when they think they have it they go out of control
when they don't get their way. self-defense is in order, to protect you
and other people from getting their feelings hurt.

The highs can be either a feeling of euphoria or happiness. They can also be sever anger and agitation. The lows are depression or severe depression.
There is no precedent as to how often they cycle around.
Peace to you,
D

What is Bipolar Disorder?
Bipolar Disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a serious medical illness that causes shifts in a person's mood, energy, and ability to function. Different from the normal ups and downs that everyone goes through, the symptoms of bipolar disorder are severe.

Signs & Symptoms
Bipolar disorder causes dramatic mood swings from overly "high" and/or irritable to sad and hopeless, and then back again, often with periods of normal mood in between. Severe changes in energy and behavior go along with these changes in mood. The periods of highs and lows are called episodes of mania and depression

i think you should consult a doctor as some diseases have similar symptoms as gerd like peptic ulcer ,chron's disease, coronary artery disease, esophagitis.symptoms of gerd are heartburn esp. within 2 hours after eating,water-brash(excessive salivation)and a sour taste in the mouth if severe.
if it is gerd you are having then u need to change ur lifestyle like decreasing coffee and chocolate, spices, raise the head of ur bed at night.losing a couple of pounds if overweight.quit smoking and drinking.

One symptom, of course, is chronic heartburn. Do you belch and bring up stomach contents? Does it burn your throat and esophagus? If so you probably have acid reflux. Check out a holistic web site if you don't want to take meds. My holistic Dr. recommended apple cider vinegar mixed in water before meals. I just don't remember the amounts. Also a bland diet might help.
